Silk History

Silk was first produced in ancient China around 6000 BC. The use of silk widely spread through Chinese culture both socially and geographically. Then the silk clothes reached to the regions of Asia . Soon silk became a very famous luxury fabric in many parts due to its shine and quality.

Because of the elevated requirement for the fabric, silk was considered as the basics of international trade before industrialization. Then the demand for silk rises in other countries such as Korea , Khotan , India and Europe.

The trading and weaving of silk fabric was a firm majestic control from many centuries and all the top quality weavers and looms were situated inside the palace and the cloth created was used in diplomacy or imperial robes or used as donations to foreign dignitaries. The rest trading of silk was sold at very high prices.

ilk soaks up moisture which appears as warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It can be easily dyed in various different colors because of its elevated absorbency. Silk preserves its hangings well, shape, shines with a luster and embraces the form. Clothes made up of silk vary from evening wear to sports wear. Silk clothes can be worn in all the seasons.

Silk is flexible, graceful and easily washable. The clothes of silk not only involve the original price of the garment but also include the price of dry cleaning. Most of the clothes of silk can be washed by hand. It does not contract as compared to other fibers. It will shrink in case when the fabric has not been washed before the garment manufacture.

While washing silk, it should not be wringed but it should be rolled in a towel. It dried up fast and should not be kept in a mechanical dryer. Silk becomes yellow and lighten when a high iron setting is used. It also gets damaged by perspiration and sunlight.
